OMEN Challenge Champion 2019
Project Brief The OMEN Challenge 2019 was a 1v1 CS:GO tournament that blurred the lines between gameplay and reality, featuring five of the world’s top players and two amateurs. The goal was to create an immersive arena that worked seamlessly for players, live broadcast, and spectators, while coordinating multiple collaborators.
Challenge Aligning multiple teams — AKQA, Realise Live, Pixel Artworks, and Flux — in a single live environment, and translating the competitive gaming experience into an interactive spatial design.
My Role I led the spatial and 3D design of Arena layout, spectator seating, gaming stations, caster/analyst desks, tunnel and immersive experience flow, reactive stage elements with real-time game-to-screen integration, and collaborated with production teams to ensure smooth broadcast and player operations.
Results & Impact 107,000 concurrent viewers at peak - 3.1 million total viewers - #1 on Twitch for 5.5 hours - Zero negative sentiment for ls - Custom map became #3 most downloaded map of 2019
