Project The Greenhouse is a serene café and restaurant in Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Bali, conceived as a place of balance, calm, and subtle poetic journey through food and space. Rather than a typical coffee house or restaurant, the design emerged from a hidden “secret garden” discovered behind an unexpected wall, becoming a quiet oasis where guests can relax, nourish the body, and reconnect with their inner self through atmosphere, light, planting, and materiality.

Challenge The core challenge was to create a spatial environment that felt both light and intentional, a place that supports the rhythm of slow dining, quiet contemplation, and harmonious social interaction within Bali’s vibrant cultural context. The design needed to respond to tropical climate, lush landscape, and the owner’s vision of a space that feels organic, unforced, and luminous, all while framing views, circulation, and moments of repose in a way that enhances the act of gathering, eating, and sharing.

My Role I led the creative, spatial, and 3D design for The Greenhouse project, developing a design language that blends architecture, vegetation, and light to create a sense of sanctuary. Working with the client Prime Food Bali, I translated the idea of “balance without excess” into built form, shaping volumes, material palettes, and spatial sequences that feel both rooted in place and attuned to the client’s philosophy of honest food and calming atmosphere.

Results & Impact The finished space embodies a quietly invigorating dining experience, where patrons are invited to slow down and engage with space as part of the meal. Positioned within one of Bali’s dynamic food landscapes, The Greenhouse has become known locally for its fresh approach, lush garden setting, and relaxed ambience, resonating with visitors seeking quality dining, connection to nature, and a moment of calm in Canggu’s evolving cultural scene.
