Roby'story Collection - Mirror1- Raro Design
Project Mirror 1 is a playful yet conceptual piece within the Roby’story collection, designed for Raro Design to explore the relationship between human action and visual language. As part of a broader narrative that chronicles the daily life of a character named "Roby," this wall-mounted object functions as both a functional mirror and an interactive ideogram that reflects the user's state of mind.
Challenge The design challenge was to turn a static object into a narrative tool that could express the fluctuating nature of a typical workday. The goal was to move beyond the traditional function of a mirror, reflection, and introduce an element of emotional communication. The piece needed to be adjustable, allowing the user to physically alter the object's appearance to signal whether their day is proving to be "hard" or "easy."
Design I developed a circular design using PMMA and glass mirror, available in vibrant pop colors like orange, yellow, and sky-blue. The core innovation lies in its adjustability: the mirror can be rotated or interacted with to change its orientation, visually representing the "difficulty level" of the day. This simple mechanical action transforms the object into a visual barometer of stress or success, engaging the user in a moment of self-reflection that goes deeper than just checking their appearance.
Results & Impact The result is a dynamic interior accessory that invites interaction and conversation. By merging the study of ideograms with product design, Mirror 1 successfully translates a complex emotional concept into a simple, universal visual message. It stands as a testament to the collection's philosophy: that everyday objects can tell a story and reflect the changing rhythms of our daily lives.
